Iridium, a metal that formed part of the asteroid that destroyed the dinosaurs, may provide new method of treating cancer using light, suggests new study in Nature Chemistry, attacking, for the first time, an energy source in cancer cells even under hypoxia, which may treat a wider range of cancers.
